Continuing from the last article, I would like to write down about PLus Beat we order leather products.
When we exhibit an outdoor event in Tokyo,we decorated our space with a DVERG custom-colored field rack which is from UNIFRAME.
Although its color was perferct, our lineup was distracted and hard to stand by the mesh.
So we got some advice from PLus Beat and asked for a leather mat which fits perfectly to the field rack.
Here's we got after the order.
The surface of the leather is chic and gorgeous.
Each piece is hand-dyed by Japanese craftsmen and the finish is beautiful as handmade products should be.
ムラというか傷というか跡がある。
むしろそれがヴィンテージ感があり、
真新しく綺麗すぎる革より全然良い。
自分でも革の小物を作っているので、
得意げに「床面はトコノールで仕上げてますか？」と聞くと、

「床面も吟面も蜜蝋で仕上げてます。」
「トコノールは熱で溶けることがあるので、
融点が高い蜜蝋で仕上げてます。」
とのこと。
得意げに質問した自分がちょっと恥ずかしい。。
アウトドアでの使用を想定して、
蜜蝋で仕上げているようだ。
PLus Beatさん気遣いが感じられる。
ちなみに床面は裏面で無加工だと毛羽だっています。
普段目にしている革製品のほとんどは吟面が表面になっています。
そして蜜蝋は高価ですが環境に優しいワックス。
何も知らなければ革を切り出しただけに見えるかもしれない。
だけどこのレザーマットはたくさんの手間と想いが詰まっている。
それを分かってくれる方にぜひ使っていただきたい。
＜追伸＞
自分はデスクマットとして使っています。
マウスを滑らした時の感覚がとにかく心地よい。
デスクに置くだけで仕事ができそうな雰囲気。笑
